The Monte Vista Feed Store Family Training Center was the first church pioneered
by Morgan Ministries. It began as a hand full of people attending meetings on
Tuesday nights in the Monte Vista sale barn. It moved from the sale barn to the
National Guard Armory, where Hummers had to be pushed back far enough to create
the space needed to have church. When opportunity and finances met, we were finally
able to rent a facility downtown in an abandoned Odd Fellows Hall. There was
extremely limited parking and we had to climb two flights of fairly steep stairs
to reach our new location. But, after much cleaning, hundreds of gallons of paint
and some cheesy decorations, we were ready for church. A couple of years, and
quite a few people later, we were totally in need of a new building. On September
28, 2003 we enjoyed our first service back at the National Guard Armory. Only
this time, there were no Hummers to move. It was no longer an Armory….it
was now our church. It wasn’t just any church. It was amazing. We were
able to expand to facilitate children’s and youth ministries for all ages,
create office spaces and we still had room for a fellowship hall and the most
beautiful sanctuary. But, three months later we reached our capacity and a balcony
was built. There just never seemed to be enough room for children and youth so
we continued to expand by purchasing modular homes, gutting them and turning
them into youth facilities. We also added playground equipment and an outdoor
basketball court. We all thought we had finally reached a time for a break, but
once again we have reached our capacity. Our building is just too small to hold
what God is doing and we are looking to build again soon. |
